I was about to play Amorous when the game said System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Your crashlog has been received and will be investigated! In the meantime, please click "Yes" and create a topic explaining what you did! Do you wish to open a link with more information?

So I clicked "Yes" and it told me to write about it. What does it mean? An update is needed? Or did something happen to my device or game??

First, I looked on steam to see if there was anything to help with apps crashing and not opening, but nothing really helped. I restarted my computer, I looked for troubleshoot options, but nothing helped at all. Then I posted all this here.

That was not the question, what did you do right before the game crashed? Your initial post tells me nothing of use to even begin fixing it :p

Now all that I did before opening was open steam, however even by doing so, it has not opened up. What is the option I could do to play your game?

I just grabbed your crashlog of the server, and the issue you are having is a pesky one. I'm not quite sure what is causing it. Could you share your options.json file with me? It's in the directory of Amorous.

Try removing the options.json file and then relaunch the game.

So I can't open the game either. I tried everything. Game crashes after 2 seconds with classic "app not responding" window. Full list of my attempts to get it working:

    Removed options.json.
Made sure game runs on Nvidia GPU.
    Video drivers up to date.
    Restarted PC several times.
Completely deleted game and reinstalled complete with removing registry keys associated with game.
Tried the "-safemode" and "-disablesound" tricks. Both worked but game still crashed.
    Verified integrity of game files.
Disabled Steam Overlay and Desktop Theater mode.
    Removed the NSFW unlock file.
    Removed my saves.

No matter what I did it crashes regardless. I looked but cannot find any crashlogs in the game files.

Screenshot of what I see 2 to 4 seconds after game starts.

So now what? Wait for 1.0.4 to fix it? No idea what's going on to make it crash and burn so hard like this. Regular log files are useless.

Went even further with my debugging.

Checked my .NET Framework. All is good there with 4.7.2 latest installed.
Checked Windows 10 file integrity and made sure that is good.

At this point to me it looks like there is a bug in the game as I've followed all possible debug suggestions.

This is a hard Windows crash, not a crash caused by the game itself, otherwise it would give you a nice "Oh no a crash"-window.

This is most likely something trying to interfere with the game, and I'm still suspecting Steam is the culprit as you seem to crash right at the moment to Steam overlay loads... Or some other kind of tool that tries to inject an overlay (eg. nVidia temperature monitor, Discord overlay, etc).

I really want to fix this, since a lot of people have this happening.
    - Does it still crash even if you don't click options?
    - Please try adding a "NonSteam.txt" file in the root directory to completely disable Steam, then run the game from outside of Steam.

Added the Steam Disable and that fixed the issue. Confirms it is a Steam issue of some sort. My temp displays and Discord do not cause issues.

Can you confirm that with the NonSteam file in place, but still launching through Steam, keeps it working?

Game crashes when launched from Steam even with file in place.

Alright, good to know. And what if you disable the Steam overlay if you go to Amorous properties?

Works no problem. No crashes here.

So, just to reiterate (consider you launch from Steam at all times):
    - Steam with overlay enabled, no NonSteam.txt => Crash
    - Steam with overlay disabled, no NonSteam.txt => Crash
    - Steam with overlay enabled, NonSteam.txt in place => Crash
    - Steam with overlay disabled, NonSteam.txt in place => No crash

    What I found launching it:
Launch from Steam with overlay = crash
Launch from Steam without overlay = crash
Launch from Steam with NonSteam.txt and overlay = crash
Launch from Steam with NonSteam.txt and no overlay = crash
Launch from directory executable with overlay = crash
Launch from directory executable without overlay = crash
Launch from directory executable with NonSteam.txt and overlay = working
Launch from directory executable with NonSteam.txt and no overlay = working.

ShowMeSomeBooty.txt has no effect on crash or work.

Thank you! Clear to me :) Steam is doing some weird stuff... I can probably make a workaround for this where I add a dummy executable which in turn launches the game without injecting the overlay. I'll see if I can get you one tomorrow. If that works, I'll add an extra launch option to Steam.
