Feedback on Bareback Streets v0.1

    So I just played this game for a bit more than an hour and here's my general feedback.

    Ignoring the gamebreaking bugs which are linked to the very early state of development of this game, there's a lot of issues related to game design more than to coding itself, so let's get through them.

    Combat is simply put not fun, and that's primarily directly caused by how humongous and blurry the hitboxes are. The animations aren't clear enough and the enemies tend to cramp up on each other meaning it quickly becomes impossible to actually tell who can hit what and when. An important part of beat 'em up games is that you need to be able to tell what your enemy is about to do and respond accordingly, which isn't possible in this game.

    The game is far too zoomed in, making it difficult to navigate and uncomfortable to play. The direct consequence of how close the camera is to the action is that a good portion of the level is actually outside of view entirely and enemies very quickly flood the screen to the point it's impossible to even move.

    The grapple system and most other commands are very frustrating. I never manage to throw when I need to and I always throw when I don't intend to, simply because it relies on just running into people instead of using one of the many keys available on a gamepad or on a keyboard. This isn't the NES days anymore, you don't need to assign stuff like grabbing objects, throwing them, holstering weapons and grappling to the same three keys.

    As far as the difficulty goes, it's mostly unequal and frustrating due to the issues mentioned above but also due to how the game handles extra lives. The fact it pops you back into the fight is fine but if you die you're back to square one which may have been fine for a NES game but in 2015 this isn't acceptable, especially when you offer three levels of difficulty which could just allow the player to respawn either right at the same level (with all enemies respawned), one level behind, or from the start of the zone entirely.

    The smut's fine but sometimes tedious and painful to access. It works well against basic enemies (get knocked out, get screwed, rinse and repeat) but against crowds and against bosses it just doesn't work. I don't even know if the final boss of the demo has a porn animation because I could never trigger anything past him showing his cock, he'd usual just wander off stage or I'd die before anything happens. At the very least, if you're going to make porn only accessible through fail-states, make it so that a game over will result in a sex scene as well.

    And please, please give us more information on releases. I still have no idea what the third attack key does (grapple ? counter ? no idea, never managed to use it), I'm not sure if the final boss has a sex scene, I don't know if there actually are any cheat codes, I don't know if difficulty modes actually impact the game for now, I feel like I'm outright missing some features, etc. You need to be a lot more precise on what exactly the release offers because jumping into a game and stumbling blindly to try and figure out what can and can't be done is really frustrating.

    I was very surprised with this game. First thing I noticed is the beautiful art style! Very polish, Jasonafex did a very awesome job with the characters. But I feel like the there should be just a little bit more effort with the facial expressions. If you take a page out of half life. The character felt more real and alive just by doing simple eye contact with the player. I say it would help out fighting the though of people are just throwing around a mindless A.I. Make them flinch, make them grin when they take off their own clothes while you're down. Emotion is key! Especially when it come to sex! :p

    I have some other issues but I kinda went around and saw that everyone already said it. So I'm just gonna make it snappy and bullet point my bugs and inconvenience I had with V0.1.

    . When Enemy get too close I'm fuck (Can't hit them back)
    . No time to react while I'm down getting nailed when I'm out of health
    . Grabbing is confusing and buggy
    . I got stuck in places and situation like can't get up next to an barrel or stuck in the subway for unknown reason
    . Power Ups are too short
    . Camera can be tricky
    . Character feels if it float sometimes

    + I don't complain about how easy it is or what ever cause it lvl 1! It should be easy and there is a difficulty option too.
    + I love the art! I just wish There was some unlockables where I can have a gallery of some naughty animations and pictures! <3
    + Like the idea of having clothing as a health bar

    As my final verdic, I think this is a really awesome game! I see lots of potentials in it. That's why I'm gonna donate to you on Patreon! I hope to see lots of updates and even mods if it possible. Kisses! ~ <3

    I think Ganerumo up there is spot on - save for the camera. I think the camera's fine. for the most part. I've already posted a thing about the floaty animations elsewhere.

    My main complaint right now is that it seems like there's only two actual girls in the game and the only animations for them are anal. I mean, no vaginal animations? Seriously? I didn't know herms, shemales, cuntboys and etc were even going to be a thing in this game, and I thought there was going to be options to turn the various sexes off to suit the player's preference.

    I also thought there was going to be a way to screw a downed enemy and be on top, but that might not just be implemented yet.

    Maybe a lust system + clothing damage system? Lust determines how hard it is to escape when you're about to get fucked, and goes up the more damage you take and the more certain enemies strike poses/tease you or something, and the grabs enemies do to let other enemies hit you become gropes when the proper clothing bits are removed, which greatly increases the lust gauge. Fucking a downed opponent resets the lust gauge back to zero. (lust might also determine the amount of jizz/tweak the sex animation? If you're really dying for it...)

    For the ganging up problem, I'd recommend putting a circle under all the characters' feet, and not letting any other character occupy the same circle of space. Actually, making it a square could help visually line up who is in line to attack who...

    At the very least, there should be a controls menu in the options part of the menu so you at least know what the hell you're doing...

    The boxing roo has an anal sex scene since it can spawn as a male, female or a shemale. Satyrs are strictly shemale and prefer topping. There will be females who like things hetero in updates to come.

    Is the final boss have a sex scene Jason ? I think so cause sometimes for no reason, he gets a erection, and some other in the same situation, he don't ! So how do we provoc a sex scene with him ?

    Some rare people have managed to trigger the sex scene and devs have confirmed it's here, but the Boss' AI is bugged and he typically prefers moonwalking off the stage rather than attack the player at all.

    Playing on a gamepad takes all button combinations and maps them to stand-alone buttons already. We wanted hidden complexity, a novice player could be satisfied with 3 buttons and a more seasoned gamer can enjoy all the extra options that open up when you try more advanced techniques. Did you know this game has a countering mechanic?

    Throwing functions in the exact same fashion to SOR, it can only occur if you try walking right through an enemy. We mapped forward to be a quick push, meaning if you grab by mistake you are not disabled for more then a moment. You cannot grab more then once in a four second timeframe. Setting grab to a stand-alone key means grabbing would require a reaching animation, which is always going to be less favourable then simply punching since it leads into a killing combo and is very safe to perform. The current method is also a way for players to naturally discover the technique and try to master it.

    Difficulty settings are available from the options menu. We don't want players to be able to master the game in the time-span of one stage. You would also miss the main appeal of the game being nudity if enemies are too passive to attack. Keep in mind this is a porn game.

    Can we get that listed somewhere? I'll try this out in a minute.

    EDIT: Just tried the game out with my Xbox One controller. The controls are definitely more responsive with the xbox controller, and the game is much more fun to play with that.

    Wishlist: uh. Cheat codes. The ability to be naked/vulnerable but not knocked out/lose a life after getting fucked once.So that you can, you know, experience the game more thoroughly.

    As someone who actually plays fighting games competitively, I can really see this game coming together. Fighting animation does feel a bit clunky, but I'm sure things will be improved and smoothed out in time. I only played through the game a few times, I don't know if any of the stuff I mention is already implemented. I'm also not sure how far this game is intended to be developed as far as making it a game for casual players or bringing it to more of a difficult game that'll require mechanics/techniques to get by specific fighters/bosses and etc. Forgive me if my feedback feels less like critic and more like a insult or if my suggestions are too much to ask for.

    Things that could be added:
    Special Moves
    - Command inputs for special moves that could help the character in various situations, like positioning, damaging a small area for clearing mobs, temporary debuffs that can cause the enemy to be slowed, stunned, poisoned, etc.
    Energy Bar
    - If special moves are put into the game, an energy bar should be add to prevent unbalanced spamming. This energy bar can be filled by taking and giving damage, less energy given when using weapons.
    Flinching System
    - When there are too many enemies it'll be much harder to fight back when they're attacking one after another. It'd be nice if there was a sturdy/weight/sensitivity stat effects your chances of flinching when hit.
    Sex Animations
    - Sense Vergence being put into a submissive state causes a possibility of the game ending, Maybe adding a sex animation of the enemy submitting to Vergence gain health could be nice. This only when the enemy is completely stripped, can be triggered through grabbing and throwing the enemy down, and the animation will be canceled upon being attacked, so you'll have to use this to the last enemy of the mob. (Sorry for any confusion).

    Things that could be changed:
    Speed
    - I don't see the speed power being useful. Maybe instead of running speed it could speed up animations/attack speed?
    Invincibility/Power Boost
    - Invincibility and Power Boost can only be useful if you were to pick it up at the right moment, there should a special holding spot for consumable buffs that can be activated when needed.
    Grabbing
    - I'm already hearing some players are having trouble grabbing enemies when they want to. Most of the fighting games I've ever played required combining 2 buttons for a grapple, combining that with a directional key to control how/where they're thrown.
    Sex animations
    -Not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if there's a bug, but I feel like I'm being locked out too quickly when the near death sex animation thing happens.

    Special moves: Verge's chargeable forcefeild move technically counts for a special move. Rather then requiring it's own meter, it simply consumes health similar to Streets of Rage 2 and 3. Giving Verge projectiles would make the game too easy, however they may work for a separate player character that is more fragile in nature.

    Flinching system: Verge has a few ways to deal with crowds, the above mentioned special or by using his counter. Doing so gives you a few seconds of invincibility. He also gains invincibility after being knocked down, which occurs after every 5HP lost.

    Sex animations: It is difficult to balance a player initiated sex scene without making it either too usefull or arbitary. The current method of sex being a threat does give it a sense of dire, urgency and spontaneous, which may make it more appealing to some.

    Speed: Speed does actually double all your attack speeds.

    Buffs: It's apart of our next patch that all buffs are being doubled from 10 seconds to 20, so they can be less situational.

    Grabbing: Grabbing in BBS is taken from how it works in SoR. We have already mapped all possible button combinations, we want to keep things to a 3 button scheme (Unless playing with a gamepad). Even with grab being assigned to it's own button, it could no longer be instant, requiring a reaching animation. This makes the move more situational as it can now miss and leave you open. You can quickly push enemies away,pummel or jump out of the grab if you perform it by mistake.

    Sex Animations: To escape a sex scene, you need to press any action key while your marker is in green. Either letting the marker fall into red or pressing a key outside of the green zone will lock you out. Some players are having trouble as the first reaction is to mash buttons.

    I have a problem with the Boss he move only left, but never to the right. And i can trigger the Boss Sex Animation. I Love this game and i Love your work.

    The game's pretty fun, would definitely love to see more. One issue I have is that the semi 3D in this game makes it difficult to punch people infront of behind you. I understand if they couldn't hit you either, but I find it a problem if I can't punch back, but the enemies are punching me. Or they're too close for the player to the the enemy but they can easily hit the player.

    Another thing. I need to test this out more often, but the boss can be stun locked I believe. I want to put this on the forum before I forget about it. This also applies to all enemies

    Punching the boss, waiting a fraction of a second, then punching again keeps the boss locked in stun without doing the combo that launches the boss onto the floor. This makes it easy to beat the boss even on the hard difficulty.

    There is no sex animation key, only keys involved are the movement keys (WASD or Arrow Keys) and action keys (ZXC or JKL) these keys are also used by the sex minigame but that's it.

    I understand that BBS has been canceled, I was wondering if anyone had v.1 to share, since I didn't have internet at the time of the release, or it's sad removal.
