    I feel like the feelings thread got hijacked to a ranking thread, so I figured, show of paws people, who's the best date/fling of them all? Preferably in the context of how you connect with the character, but overall works too. I'm pretty sure its going to be a battle between Seth and Skye, so to level things out you can pick two :p They're all great and I have no dislike for my least favorite, I guess what I'm trying to say this isn't to be critical, just for fun :cool:

    That's easy.

    Seth is an absolute sweetheart. I felt invested in his aspirations of becoming a published writer because he was just trying so hard. He felt really genuine and I connected with his curiosity of the world and fascination with stories. Besides being a creative soul, he's just so earnest and gosh darn adorable. He's so innocent and good-hearted I have no choice but to melt for him and his way with words. I was taken aback by him back in 0.3 and I was left craving more of him, hard.

    Dustin is, to put it bluntly, fucking hot as hell. His assertive predatory demeanor really clicks with a subby sucker such as I. Also I really wanted to pull him out of his toxic relationship. He deserved none of it. Learning about his fascination with classic movies was also really cool and it was nice to see him so exited about something.
    Also, my god. That last date on the beach when you pick "Or any position". Oh boy... I was left daydreaming about that scene the other day and I swear I felt a faint taste of cum in my mouth.

    Mine is, conditionally, Jax and Zenith (Or as the game prefers to remind me, "The Large Male").

    However, the two of these are from a writer's perspective, as they are not only relatable and fleshed-out but exhibit actual depth of emotion as well as experiencing real problems that hit you like a truck in time. It's certainly where the writing of the game truly takes its time to shine, with Bradburian character development and Hitchcock's pacing of events. It knows when to hold back and when to punch you straight in the face.

    Coby's "path" is more or less what I view as a joke. It is so comically bad in its writing that I thought at first it was an Easter Egg or a little gag that was put in, with its logic mired in a Naylor-esque fantasy that is so poorly wrought and conceived that the entire industry of erotica publishing wouldn't even allow it into their wastebaskets. It is one of the worst things I have ever had the displeasure of reading, and that is saying quite a lot.

    ==========================================================================
    Edit: Played Dustin's path, and as I expected, above Cody and a long way below Zenith. The guy scared the hell out me for the time at the club, way too fast paced considering the issues present with him, and his idea of a sexual advance was more like being hunted to death (That's coming from someone heavily into BDSM). What's worse, Var was objectively a horrible person and, unlike Jax's path, I couldn't do something like smashing Var's face into a wall.

    ==========================================================================

    Edit:
    Played Skye's story, and she's now my favourite by a league and a mile. Whoever wrote that... that person deserves a medal for that writing. Skye is the only path present in which I don't even find myself bothered at all by the plethora of typos and grammatical eras. That takes a lot. Skye had the most wonderfully pleasurable build-up. Hell, the only thing I was was added was to smack that little dragon whore in Foxy, or at least call her an insult that is as degrading and potent as possible.

    Skye... hell, she's the closest I've seen, in writing or in my own experience, to my dream girl. Every little facet of her perfectly echoes what I am inside, down to my core. She's even a virgin like me! I would consider my life so rich if, God willing, I could ever come across in my life a real life counterpart to this, a real life Skye. Now I feel worse about having no love life!

    That path... was breathtaking. Let me tell you this: This path did something next to impossible in its magically enrapturing duration. It turned me on. That's NOT something I'm generally capable of experiencing. But it didn't just get me turned on... It did it by the FIRST date. I'm still redder than a strawberry, and I played it about half an hour ago!

    Thank you so much for including this essence of all pulchritude in Amorous. IT. WAS. WORTH. THE. WEIGHT. I need a cold shower after this post.

    ==========================================================================

    Then there's Seth. Words can barely describe how much I hate this creature. A pretentious and self-absorbed "writer" (I refuse to be grouped in the same category as something that is this atrocious) and more of a condescending prick than I would ever think possible, Seth is a ungodly aggregation of virtually everything bad that is possible for a pen to manage to jot down without being immolated by the hand of nature.

    Seth (yes, I am devoting a second paragraph to describe this cunt) is your average only child, only much more spoiled and with more riches (yet somehow he blames his failures on his parents), albeit with a disgusting smarmy aura about them along with the whole faked coy act. Seriously, who is stupid enough to buy the whole excuse of "Yeah, I wanted to 'capture the social essence of the times', so I go to a bisexual nightclub that has been known for having gay orgies!". Let alone the fact that this questionably male exemplification of forced lordosis insists he enjoys drinking scotch that he can't get down without his face being morphed into some even worse visage.

    Add that all to the fact that this two expression character (blushing is done religiously and obsessively on his part) doesn't even have definite masculine features worth noting (I sincerely thought he was a woman on the ONE playthrough of his path I did until he stripped), along with a mile long list of flaws not mentioned here, and you end up with, bar none, the most hateworthy character I have ever seen retched from the mind of a writer.

    If Seth was real, in front of me.... I would, without hesitation, drive my fist into his jaw with a right cross so strong that his teeth would be sprayed across the pavement. And yes, I would consider the prison time absolutely worth it.

    With 19 votes in (who voted for just one charater? =P) I can't say I'm too surprised, but I may have underestimated Zeniths appeal.

    :amcocky:Takes the cake for me, what a freakin' hunk. Definitely likes to take control, 100% a 'dom/top', but still has a heart under all that.... muscle. Kinda reminds me of Brian Kenny from Queer as Folk, and a little like me at times :cool:. Right off the bat, the cliche 'look' that leads to one-nighters is instantly deployed by this stud, and he doesn't cool off from there. One part I really appreciated is when he finally realized he needs to make a change in his life, he doesn't do it for the player, but for himself. Sometimes freedom is as simple as letting go. Pity that we probably wouldn't be compatible, unless he would appreciate a good fight for control, which I doubt seeing hes impossible to engage if you're too direct (could still probably trick him with a delicate tango).

    :amgrumpy: A pretty close second, more affectionate and less f**kboy than Dustin, but what a heart. He had a very interesting story progression too. It really works for him, but it almost feels like a stretch, as if they tried too hard to create a perfect 'daddy' type. Still love him. The way they juxtapose his size against the PC at times is hilarious and charming (the jackhammer back padding). The mini game also added for a fun extra too.

    And for the rest.

    :amshy:Kinda reminds me of how I used to be: timid and a bit full of myself. The more you start to get to know him, you quickly find out its not a ego issue, but more of a barrier issue. He makes you want to care for him, and you eventually fall for his charms. I'll file him under 'token twink', but I felt a more legitimate connection with him than perhaps my ultimate picks... and yes I cried.

    :amlaughing:For how much I liked Jax, I kinda feel guilty shoving him in my 4th place spot. He too like Seth and Dustin had pretty specific elements that made me reflect upon myself (I used to be the Friday headlining DJ at the nicest nightclub in my town, I wasn't fired but laid off, no crazy ex, but the impact felt nearly the same, oh and no one to lean on when I finally broke down. Helped me learn to cope with challenge in change) So with that, he really hit home with me as far as relatability, maybe the reason why I didn't connect to him is because I saw his date path more like a flipping mirror. That aside, somewhat like Seth, he has a shell that needs poking through, but once you do, he's yours.

    And for the two that, while fantastic, not my cup of tea/joe/booze/(poison of choice)

    :amsmuggy:I will admit, him sticking his beak into your lovelife adds for some fun extra dialogue, there isn't alot of substance to be had here, as it's implied to be pre-established. I will admit there is a scene that's really cute where you and Coby just hang out, make Pizza, and just get to re-know each other. He's mostly there as a fling option, great scene, but it left me wanting more.

    :amangry: So I'll throw on the table my super biased reason why one of the favorite characters is my least: I'm unapologetically gay. With that out the way, fantastic arc, really sweet character, and a very deep reason why she cosplays in the first place. I believe the reason why I just couldn't click with here was just simple sexual preference.

    To be fair, I did say 'kinda' :p Dustin has a heart and actually cares, Brian is 100% pure f**kboy. But yea, he still is my favorite :cool:

    Well, that, and Brian was also a rapist, so... yeah, Dustin is nowhere near that bad.

    Now I don't usually like going after people for voicing their opinions on fictional characters, but your essay was nothing short of baffling.
    Judging the dates as characters, I find it very odd that you would choose Skye and Zenith in particular to be well-written characters, when I found them to be perhaps even more lackluster than Coby.

    It's hard to buy that Zenith has a "Bradburian character development" with a "Hitchcock's pacing of events" when all you really get is exposition of a story you're barely a part of and in-your-face symbolism devoid of subtlety. The player character never really even bonds with him emotionally (beyond loitering in the second base), the dragon just kinda tolerates you for two dates and then slams his dick in you with a token "Love ya". Regardless of the build-up they tried to give to his backstory, I found it hard to get invested in as his grief just seems really synthetic (speaking as someone who's lost a beloved family member at a young age) and he doesn't really grow as a character even though he says that he's supposedly turning a new leaf (which was done multitudes better in Dustin's path). If I had to describe Zenith's path in one word, I would choose awkward.
    I would like to know what it is that makes you praise his character so much, as you're allegedly a writer and presumably have an expertly formed reasoning for it.

    Skye is also someone who gets a lot of praise, but it's surprising that she gets praise from someone who claims to be literate in the art of storytelling. I just assumed people like her because she's a nerdy girl with big bazookas and glorified panties. While her identity crisis storyline showed some potential, in the end they kinda just rush it through and boil it down to "Would you rather fuck Renamon or Lucario than Skye?". During a date, you have no impact on gameplay (in a game) besides the optional bedroom roleplay in the end. I guess that counts for something in a porn game. I really have no problems with people liking her for being hot, but you're lying to yourself if you think she's well written. Beyond her hobby, she's just sort of stock and bland. If you just want to have a "Finally, a girl who wants to talk to me"-experience, she's fine I suppose.
    Funfact, she's written by the same guy who did Coby. Just throwing that out there.

    But now we get to the part that most caught my eye. I'm sort of confused why you had such a strong aggressive reaction to Seth. Not to make an ad populum-argument here, but every guy I've talked to agrees that he's one of the most well fleshed-out characters in the whole game (typos not withstanding). And you may be a pot calling the kettle black if you're talking about pretentiousness, seeing how you're playing a game of "how much jargon can I fit in a sentence".
    It kinda seems to me that you're calling him out for being someone who has everything in the world just because his parents are rich, but he's obviously going through existential issues and an overshadowing sense of self-doubt before he meets you in the club. You can't really shrug off pneumatic problems as by-products of being an "average only child, only much more spoiled and with more riches", that is a very philistine mindset. Sure, going to a hook-up club and drinking half a bottle of scotch you don't like isn't the most productive thing to do, but in the end it comes from him wanting to experience life outside his normal bubble and I say you can't be too hard on him just for that. And I don't know what you're on about bashing him for being a feminine man like it's something you're supposed to be ashamed of.
    He has his flaws for sure, as for any character, but he has the strongest arc and goes through the biggest developments with the player. His flaws are what make him interesting and relatable, as a self-proclaimed writer you should know that nobody wants to see a mary sue. Nothing he does really warrants being punched in the face, even if you personally don't like the guy.
    Now try to not take this all personally. I know this is the internet and it's easy to just fall back to angry bickering but just please understand that I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just challenging your opinions and trying to introduce different perspective to your rigid and seemingly hyperbolical views.

    I hope you have a nice day.

    I'M ONLY ON SEASON ONE!!!... Shush! =P Also, brutal counter-argument for Seth, but I agree, I can't find anything about him that would enable me to hate him on any magnitude. Opinions are normally formed from personal experiences so....

    Justin was 17 and Brian was 29, so that's statutory rape.

    And there was a scene at his workplace where he raped (by the definition of "sex without consent") the one married guy in the bathroom at his work.

    Technically the age of consent in the state of Pennsylvania (where Pittsburgh is)is 16 :p. Thought you meant NC, not Stat. Haven't made it to the bathroom scene yet, but I'm not surprised. Just to wrap up this side topic: yes, Brian is a f**kboy, to the core.

    And, surprise, Skye took the lead. Hopefully v0.6 introduces a new female (I'd prefer all males, but that wouldn't be fair >.>)

    Pretty much echoed what I can't due to poor thought -> text skills. Very well done path in the short time that's allocated to it.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one, haha, I noticed earlier on but at some points I found myself forgetting.

    Well, that is for strictly standard sex. Things get more complicated when things go to the backside.

    If I remember correctly, I believe Mercy's path is being added. That kinda gives both of the things you state: female and male. Not exactly sure what gay men have as a stance on herms (it's got the parts you're looking for, and genetics do resound with a hulking Y chromosome, so can't imagine there's a complaint), but that seems to be able to shake up the pot a bit.

    And besides, there's already 5 of the 6 planned guys in already. Or 6.5, if Mercy is counted.

    Even though I say Skye is first in my book, she's BARELY first. I mean, I'm not gay, but Jax... he's got enough going for him that I'd be okay making an exception (as long as he is the top).

    Skye has a few things in her path that rub me the wrong way, but it's an unusually well attuned take on the female dynamic, especially considering the fact that most men can't write a group female dynamic to save their lives.

    In the end, I think Skye (as well as Dustin and Zenith) are going to shift places a lot as the other 5 females are added. Oh, and Mercy.

    (Also, I think Seth is the only male every depicted more poorly endowed than I am)

    Yeah, I'm not either, but Jax is a close second definitely. The other's aren't bad but they didn't really do it for me.

    We'll see what the new characters bring, really I like just downloading the new versions and submitting all the typos to try and save the sanity of others, haha.

    Despite of the fact that I haven't played the dating simulator officially due to some technical issues, I really favored both Dustin and Skye from the game. Both of them reminded me something a bit more sensual on that other sense. :amcocky:
